Infineon launches new generation of AURIX™ TC4x series microcontrollers to shape the future of mobile innovation
As an important original manufacturer in the global automotive semiconductor market, Infineon continues to be committed to shaping the innovation path of future mobility. The newly launched AURIX™ TC4x family of 28nm microcontrollers (MCUs) is designed for e-mobility, ADAS, automotive E/E architecture and affordable artificial intelligence (AI) applications. It is reported that the first batch of AURIX™ TC4x samples has been put into the design of major customers.
The development history of Infineon AURIX™
Since its birth in 1999, the TriCore™ core architecture has gone through multiple generations of single-core versions of microcontrollers, while AURIX™ is a multi-core architecture microcontroller based on the TriCore™ core.
- In 2014, the first generation AURIX™ TC2x was launched, which integrates up to three TriCore™ cores, a security management unit SMU, and a power supply PMIC chip TLF35584. It is also equipped with SafeTlib™ software to implement self-test and exception handling.

- In 2018, the second generation AURIX™ TC3x was launched, integrating up to six TriCore™ cores to achieve excellent real-time performance and the highest level of functional safety ASIL-D, suitable for a variety of automotive applications.
- In 2021, a new generation of AURIX™ TC4x series was launched, using the next generation TriCore™ 1.8 core and a scalable accelerator suite, including a new parallel processing unit (PPU), to meet the needs of different artificial intelligence topologies and provide higher performance and compatibility design.
